Red face Tips needed for attending sister's quilt show

Hello all. My sister and I will be attending the sister's quilt show in oregon in july. Any tips would be appreciated! Did you go and did you like it? Good places to shop and eat? Are there any "must see" touristy things to do while there? Thanks guys!!!!

For the day of the show, arrive early while it's still cooler. Wear a hat and protect your skin from the sun either with sunscreen or clothing. Take a water bottle. I like to take a neck cooler and replenish it in water during the day. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Take a camera with plenty of storage space and extra batteries if your camera uses them. (I'm not mentioning film because most people are using digital cameras.) For places to eat, I like the BBQ place, but everything gets crowded around lunch time. It's good to take something to munch on just in case. You will have fun, guaranteed.

Keep in mind that the town is very, very small, population approx 1700. You might want to eat either early or late, or bring your own munchies. I agree with Dunster - sunscreen, water, comfy shoes are a must.

Be sure to look inside the businesses. Many have lots of quilts hanging inside. The local grocery store has great take out grub. There are many shaded spots to rest and snack.

The Gallery has amazing fish and chips as well as good breakfasts. I hope you already have made lodging arrangements!

Yaay! I'll be there too, first time for me as well. And I'm taking notes!

Are you going to the show in Redmond that's on the Thursday & Friday before the Sisters show? DH & I are staying in Redmond for 3 days so I can attend all 3 days of shows. Then we're heading north so DH can feed some sloths at some animal sanctuary sort of near Portland, LOL.

I was lucky & my first Sisters quilt showing was the first Redmond, Or Quilt Expo, in 2013. Last year they had a bus that carried us from Redmond to Sisters. I don't remember it costing any extra money, you just had to have your bracelet on from the Redmond Expo. After I arriving in Sisters, I understood the term...very limited parking. Make sure you know where you left your vehicle! We saw more than one person wandering around trying to find theirs.

I agree with all the comments from everyone else. Especially about wearing very comfortable walking shoes. Some of the quilts are for sale in Sisters. I didn't know that before I went. There are several shops & tent areas with quilting patterns, material, etc for sale. I took those fold up lightweight bags that would fit over my shoulder to carry stuff with. The Sisters quilt show tee shirts are found in several sales areas. If I could go again this year, I would!!!!!

Check check check... lol Yes, most definitely the comfortable shoes, a hat to shade you as we get very warm here. I missed last year but the years before you can definitely get bottled water readily available if you run out. They have them all over the place for refills. Great places to get food including the Lutheran Church in town that hosts a nice luncheon complete with pie if you so desire. N/A Nice shady places to rest whether under canopies or trees... if you are able to cover the entire realm of quilts good luck! lol
Do check out the Redmond Event; http://www.oregonsummerquiltexpo.com/ it will have all different types of crafting including quilting,.. again N/A
Above all, just ENJOY the experience! It is AWESOME!!
