I always seem to be a couple of seasons "behind" the color trends. LOL I buy what catches my eye, be it in vogue or not. Then again, I bought a house that had avocado green appliances, a harvest gold bathroom and orange shag carpeting; all that was missing was a disco ball hanging from the living room ceiling! I am probably hopeless when it comes to colors that's why I love scrap quilts so I don't have to match colors..

Funny I'm always ahead of the curve when it comes to things like color and clothing popularity (I used to wear my dad's old clothes, jeans, t-shirts, flannel shirts etc due to our not having any money and then grunge came in fashion- I stopped wearing it while it was popular then started wearing it again in the mid-2000's when everyone moved on to other things). When stuff becomes popular I suddenly don't like it! I do still like greys though even though they're popular. The thing I don't like with fabric and can't wait for it to go away are the metallics. I know lots of people like then, but I can't stand them. I see an awesome fabric that I love and then click on it, or grab it off the shelf and it has metallics in it and I just can't buy it. The one thing I am "forcing" myself to do is the RK Klimpt stuff. I'm going to do one metallic quilt with that, and that'll be all. I'm still a bit sad with all the really great holiday fabrics all being metallics right now. I wanted to make a matching quilt, tablecloth and tree skirt and am just impatiently waiting for the fad to go away. ha ha!

I tend to pick 1-2 colours for a quilt and so far most of my quilts are different colours schemes. Except blue and green - I have made 3 of them 'cause it's such a pretty combo!! I have a lot of colour sets I want to make in the near future, pink/brown, bright pink/orange, yellow/blue, pink/green my list goes on.

I hadn't realized that quilt shop's fabric follow trends, but of course it makes sense. I tend to quilt with blenders so the trends don't matter since there are always blenders.

I love to see what the Pantone color of the year is. This is what is considered the "it" color and we then see it popping up in everything that year. At least when I see the Pantone color, I can figure out if I will need to shop my stash more that year.

I don't do trendy in clothes or quilt colors. I love scrappy and have been doing a lot of them lately. I even made a scrappy star jacket! I haven't been buying much fabric lately. Mostly just a couple pieces here or there for a quilt.

I tend to buy whatever color I like when I see it. That's why I seem to have a whole lot of fat qtr collections.

I seem to gravitate to happy bright colors like blues, aquas and spring green, maybe because I live on the coast of Maine. I am currently working on a scrap leader/ender project and have discovered that I have very few yellows. Occasionally I have fallen in love with a collection and will purchase a FQ bundle but often end up breaking it apart.
