Tme for a new cutting mat.. Which one ???

I was also in the need of a new cutting mat. I went through all of the recommendations here, and this is the one I settled on for two reasons. After looking all of them over, this is the only one I saw that has the inch markings with numbers going both directions. I am left handed so this works beautifully for me. I always had to take a black marker and write my own numbers in. Second; the increment marks go all the way across the mat, not just at each side. I love that feature. Otherwise, it is the same quality; self healing as the Olef and other brands. It was only about 10 dollars more than a few of the others, but not more than all of the other brands. I do have to pay for shipping, but saves me a trip across the city to JoAnns, or other fabric stores. Thanks for all of your information here, and especially Terry in the ADK where ever that is. ha.

I got an "Olfa like" mat on Amazon that was sold under drafting tools and found exactly the same one under sewing supplies, but for double the price! Bonus, it is double sided. They had a green/black one or a pink/blue available. I chose the pink/blue for me.

I bought the Martelli mat when it was half off last week. Also bought another rotary cutter and a double pack of blades. All at big discounts. Love them all. Won't go back to the fiskars or olfa mars or cutters. I have had them all. This one fits my big koala cabinet on the big table that I can lift up or leave down if not needed. I also bought the round swivel mat and round ironing mat at half off. I got on their email list and they sent me an email when the big sale was on

I'm a fan of the Martelli mats & cutters. Tried a cutter at a quilt shop, came home & signed up for the Red Line Direct sales. You only get an email when a sale is coming, not daily or weekly. Very happy with my purchases.

Wow ! Thanks for all the input on cutting mats. Several brands I had not even heard of but am going to do a little research on the Martelli. My mat is shot but I guess I COULD turn it over and get another 20 plus years out of it. lol ! but I DO use the lines for cutting. sooo. The other thing I could do is just start cutting in a different spot. Lots of options... I just wanted to thank all of you who chimed in to help me... got lots of good advice (as usual) ! you guys are the BEST......

Don't forget to hydrate your mat periodically! Take it into the shower with you! Mine is too big to fit into my tub, so I lay warm damp cloths over it a few times a year to rehydrate it. That will help keep your mat pliant and self-healing longer.
