I tried to print off a free quilt pattern yest. & my printer would not copy. I tried with sev. other things & still no copies. Today when I turn my copier on, it is now printing maybe 14 copies of that quilt pattern I tried to get yest. I've even had to reload more paper. How does anybody get a copier to STOP printing even if I hit cancel (& every other button on it)? Very frustrating.
(Now it's printing off numerous baked stuffed mushrooms recipes I tried to get last night. Anybody need a recipe)? LOL

Quickly go to Start, Control panel, Printer, choose your printer and click Printer at the top left of the bar. You can choose cancel there. It doesn't take long to get there and it will stop after that page is completed.

My printer queue hangs up sometimes, especially if I'm printing PDF files. It gets so bad that the only way I can get it to empty the queue after cancelling the print job is to shut it off for HOURS! Mine is an HP all in one printer/copier/scanner/fax. More hassle than it's worth some days.

Boy, do I feel dumb. I used to do that but had completely forgotten it. Thanks so much for all of the advice.

Is it a HP mine does that all the time I have no answers because when you bring up the control panel there is nothing there it has already processed them try turning off the printer next time it should stop them from printing.

Mine is an HP, too, & that's what happened to me. By this morn. it had chgd. its mind & printed everything I had tried to print last night. Just can't figure that out.
Others have told me how to clear it now though.

When it happens, I try to remember to take out all the paper when I shut it off. Then I am reminded to be sure the print jobs have actually cancelled before I turn it back on. Isn't technology wonderful! LOL

Stack up all those extra copies turn over & print on back side. I have always recycled my copy paper this way. My tiny way of going green.
I also cut up paper clean on one side to keep at computer for scrap notes.

Rebooting will not reset a printer, you have to turn the computer completely off or unplug the printer directly. Lesson learned about that! A complete turn off will reset most printer problems.

I agree, This is the first place to go to quickly make it stop. Also.... Use those extra copies for scratch paper. I have lots of that on my computer desk that I cut in quarters and I dont feel lke I'm wasting paper.

also, if you were printing copies, check the menu setting. It has a place where you say how many copies you want. Mine automatically is set on about 15 or more, so I have to make sure to change it before I hit print. Mine is HP also, all in one.

Click on the printer symbol (usually in lower right corner) and highlight what it is printing. You should then be able to find an option to cancel the print job. It will also show all print jobs lined up in the queque and if you don't want them, cancel them also.

I did all of these but it didn't work. The solution which somebody mentioned that I should have done was to go to Start, Computer, Copier & deleted from there. I still feel so dumb for not remembering that.

As somebody mentioned, I also use the clean side of printed copies as note paper. I hate to waste it.

If I got this pix right, this is the temp in this part of Ariz. today.

Boohoofish, that's neat. I am more familiar with older versions of Windows, so that's new to me. Too easy.

My HP puts the project in a queue everytime I hit print and does not clear when it's turned off so it's easy to get multiple copies. My Epson clears when it's turned off.

Pull the plug on that bad boy! That will buy you some time to do what the others have suggested.

Trust me, I did that last night. This morn. is when it started spitting pgs out. I was even considering sending it out the door on a one way trip. Wouldn't have hurt my feelings too much since this thing is so darn slow I can't stand it.

Cancel all of the print jobs in the printing cue and you will have no trouble.
