I know what you mean! My first sewing machine was a $400 Babylock. When I got to the car with it, I just started crying. LOL We are not used to spending $$ on ourselves I guess.

Enjoy your new toy!

First congratulations on your machine. My friend has it and she loves it and I have all Viking machines and they are all great and I love them. I felt the same way when I got my first Viking machine which was $2200 plus tax, but trust me after the fourth one no remorse at all...I welcome the fact that my husband love me and I can buy these machines :-)

Have fun!! I'm sure you don't question purchasing a reliable car. You should get quite a bit of "milage" from this machine. My Viking was still in great shape after 20 years when I gave it to my son.

Gosh I am exactly the same way! I have the hardest time spending large amounts of money on myself! Buyers remorse kicks in for me too almost immediately!

But if you're like me, give yourself a couple of days, then that will pass and you can enjoy your wonderful new machine! And good for you splurging a little on yourself! We all need that once in a while.

Thank you all for the encouraging words! It's good to hear I'm not alone! I also love that so many that have this machine really love it and have a good history with Viking machines in general. The salesman said "this machine will still be purring along when your girls are in high school." And then one of my best friends said the same thing, so it's good to know it's a lasting investment. I'm up this morning and plan on getting it out of the box and trying it out. I will call the shop Tuesday and set up my first of what I'm sure will be many one on one lessons with it. We met with our small church group last night - 3 members head our community's youth football league and mentioned they have a lot of items they'd love to get embroidered - so now I'm not feeling so scared about the machine not "earning its keep". The excitement is starting to ooze out...so what am I doing here? I should be unpacking my machine!!

And yes, the hubby is a keeper. He's also an enabler - I wanted a less expensive machine, but he said "just get the other one - I don't want to have to buy another machine in a year or two so just get the nicer one now and enjoy it." He is too good to me. He drives me nuts sometimes, but I do love him dearly. He supports any idea that pops in my head and never complains about the cost. He just makes it happen for me. You can't go wrong with a man like that!

I know how you feel, a couple of years ago I did the same thing. I went looking for a new machine only wanting to spend about $500 and I came home with a viking saphire 875. It was like I was buying a car to me, but my husband and my mom both told me I needed to buy the nicer machine.

Now we have been looking at long arms for quilting. Talk about being freaked out! Will see what happens.

Oh, that's so great!!!!! Freaking out in a very good way. I completely relate to how you feel about spending money on yourself... but turn that guilt into motivation to do beautiful work that will be treasured.
