Hey,from Ct.I find when I chain piece if I leave a little thread between the two pieces I don't cut to close to either side for a little wiggle room.

I learned this step at the site Missouri Star Quilt Co. I learned a ton of things from them. Also this site is the best. If you ask a question be prepared for all kinds of answers. It's great!!

If you use a 2 to 2.5 setting on your stitch length, it will be fine. It will only unravel if you have a looser or longer stitch length. it is a chain piecing technique that is common to machine piecing and quilting. It saves on cotton thread and time.
