    I never imagined trying to get a 1 year old to CARRY a tote. I thought you meant a tote bag to carry a 1 year old IN and I was very interested to see what it might look like...duh! LOL

    She won't be carrying it; it's for her library books when she and my daughter go to the library. Someone here was nice enough to finally post a link and I think I've found a bag there that would work. Thanks! :)

    At this point at 1 yr old, go simple.
    Take a 12X 24" piece of fabric and embellish half of it how you like - embroidery, applique, quilting, whatever.
    Sew up the sides. Fold over the top edge, and add a strap.
    She's going to drag it through the mud anyway.
    When she starts school you can make her a 'special' backpak.
