It is so funny that this tumbler thread is here now. About a month ago, my sister gave me a whole pile of 8" long triangular pieces that she had used to make a banner chain for a party. It occurred to me that I would waste a lot of fabric by cutting squares and I was looking for something a little bit different and I thought of a tumbler pattern....do you think I could find a plexiglass tumbler template anywhere?...NO...I finally went on-line and ordered a 4" one. My pieces are all cut waiting for me to put them together....and then I see this thread....funny. I would have gladly purchased a 5" one if I'd seen it.

How do you cut them without the template?

I bought a tumbler template just like theirs from Ebay a year ago. It is my favorite!! I have made 5 quilts with the tumbler pattern. I am making one more for my DD's MIL. I also bought a smaller one from DebbieUmpress and can't wait to use it.

I *just* cut a tumbler from the clear plastic that spring mix salad comes in. Used a sharpie to mark the edges. I think I'll still need a ruler so I don't slice up my cheapie template, but it was FREE!

I am working on mine now, I just did the first 4 rows. I think I am going to give it to my neice for her bridal shower this summer.
