Yesterday, my 8 year old GD decided she wanted to sew something!! So, right off to the machine we went. She looses interest fast and I didn't want to take a chance!LOL I got out some charm squares, and showed her how to make one of those folded coaster. She dfid really good!! In fact, she made two!! Then little brother started bugging, so that was the end of that. She is coming for the day on Friday, and she wantsd to make more!!! And today, I got to our Walmart, and it does have fabric, not a huge amount, but enough to get what I was needing, and it was on bolts, not pre-cutsd, and it was Cranston cottons. Was able t o get the insulbrite( have to make some potholders and be ready for GD. Oh, made DIL an apron today too, and finsihed some PJ's for GS. Good day here!!

I tried to get my eight year old granddaughter to sew with me. She said NO THANKS!! I am afraid of that machine!! So, I will keep hoping she shows an interest.

Carol, which Walmart did you go to? I started to stop at the one on Winchester Road (by Hamburg) this afternoon to see if they had fabric and went to Michael's instead.

You've had a busy, productive day. It's nice that your GD wants to learn how to sew and that you were able to find what you needed at Walmart! Sounds like you both will enjoy your time together.

How exciting, and you found a project she liked doing! I think that's the hardest part.

ah, to go back to 8 year old granddaughters. mine are 12 and 15. they were both excited to learn to sew, quilt, knit, anything when they were 7 thru 10. now they have too many other things going on with music, school, cheer, and friends. sure do miss them little ones.

enjoy the time now. hopefully yours will continue to like sewing.

Wonderful! The last time I kept my DGDs for the day my oldest made herself pajama pants from beginning to end with Grandma just guiding. She is 13, my 10 yo DGD doesn't want anything to do with sewing.

Congratulations are sewing with DGD! My DGD is not interested in sewing yet. The other day she brought me her Girl Scout vest to have two patches sewn on it. I'm waiting for the day when she shows some interest!!
