    They shoud square up to 4 1/2" each, I have made the blocks as well.

    Maybe it is just me but your half square triangles don't look square to me. Lengthwise they look the same as your 4 patches. It is crosswise they are not the same. I hope I make sense. How did you make your half square triangles?
