You asked a question about how long fabric/pattern has laid out for you to see it and I have to say the longest is 1 year. I was asked to make a Crown Royal quilt and I washed the bags and dissected them. Bought the yellow flannel to go with it and then it just sat there because I didn't want to make all the Flying Geese. The fabric was cut and ready to go, but I just couldn't do it. Now I can say I do have the top nearly completed, I have to make the borders now and have no clue how or what I'm going to do. I will say your top is very pretty and I'm sure you are happy with it.

My goal is to finish all UFOs living in my quilt room. Some were started & finished; some were fabrics & patterns that I just never got around to. Monday is our guild day & I'm delivering 7 for donation to various charities. I have 6 more hanging in the closet that need to be quilted on my sit-down. I think I have 5 or 6 left in the UFO box. Oh, I'm also on a fabric moratorium until I get some of the stash used up. So far, I'm feeling pretty good about my accomplishments. kathy

I love it! Now I have the reputation of being an eagle eye, so forgive me if I point out an oops! The fifth row from the right, fifth square from the bottom has two colored squares joined together, making the top row off. Since it isn't quilted yet, you might want to change it. OR, it might be a design element??? Phannie 1, It would bother me, so I thought I would mention. I would NEVER say anything if it were already quilted!

You asked about length of time we keep a top laying out unfinished - I've had a white/white quilt sitting out for about 4 months now, just waiting to make a decision about the backing fabric. Since the front is all white, going into someone's home whose decor is white furniture, white carpets, white cabinets and only silver or grey art on the walls, I've been sort of limited in my choices. Finally found a white fabric that has undulating waves of very tiny grey and black dots on it.
Really like your use of charm squares - it makes a cheery quilt!

14 months!! It's actually been on my quilting frame ready to go, I just can't seem to make up my mind how to quilt it. I've changed my mind at least 3 times. In my own defense, first I had the grands here for 3 months and couldn't seem to work on any of my stuff while we worked on theirs, then there was a major push to make costumes for our Renaissance Faire booth, then the entire sewing "Fortress" was under construction and I threw a couple of old sheets over it to keep the sheetrock dust in check. Remodeling is finally finished so it's time to take that sheet off and re-evaluate my quilt. If this was to be a gift, it would have been finished ages ago, but this is a special project for me so it's too easy to push it to the back burner!

Here's one that stalled for maybe as much as 5 years. I didn't really know why, but when I got it out because my niece was expecting, I realized that the problem was a block I just didn't like and was probably too lazy to switch out at the time I was first working on it. It was a relatively simple thing to remove the offending fabric (life-like ants on a baby quilt - eeeew!) and switch it with the airplane on the second row, left.

A very nice finish. The pile gets smaller.
I think the one I had on my design wall the longest was 4 years, 2012 to 2016. Took years to decide how to finish piecing it and it is still waiting to be quilted.
