I did the same thing because I had extra strips. I decided to cut off strips 4" wide and enough strips to go around whole quilt like piano keys. I think it turned out great with that new look.

I thought it gave it added accent, too! :-)Originally Posted by Quilter 65

I personally love the way it looks & would leave it as is. A border & ta da! I have a couple of jelly rolls that I want to use this weekend to make a couple of JRR. The thing that I wonder about, tho is (don't laugh... I', kinda nala about this sort of thing) is how do you keep all the designs going the right direction?Originally Posted by MadQuilter
I wouldn't rip either - it looks great. Add a border and call it DONE! (I am working on 2 right now and one is a little bigger and one is a little smaller.)

I hadn't thought of it that way. Plus, if you made it out of black fabric, you'd nearly disappear! LOL!Originally Posted by BellaBoo
I prefer the lengthwise strips, it makes me look thinner when I'm under the quilt. LOL

So the "correct" number of strips to use is 40? I'd planned to throw a couple of extras into mine (of the border fabric just to sorta tie it in more). I'd just hoping all my miters go the right direction. I marked them with a marker, but knowing me...Originally Posted by qbquilts
it looks good to me. Anytime you change the number of strips and/or don't miter them together, the final size will vary from the approximate 64" x 49". Mine is about 64" x 55" b/c I used 2 1/2" squares between the strips instead of mitering them together.

Another size question... can you use 40 21" 2.5" strips to make a baby-sized quilt? That was a brilliant I'd had (haven't done it yet as I'm still scouting the perfect jelly roll for it).Originally Posted by qbquilts
