I have used both new and vintage sheets for backing and even tops and piecing. I have never had an issue with the sheets.

Kids vintage and character sheets can be lots of fun and cheaper than fabric of the characters, if you can even find any!

I have customers that bring sheets for quilt backing to be LA and I haven't had any problem doing them.

I have bought the sateen sheets for my bed...very expensive. (over 100.00 for set) They only lasted 6 months...I will never buy those again. My fear with bed sheets is that the quality of the fabric does not seem the same and I do not buy cheap sheet though I am starting to think I should...and just buy them more often. I would not trust a sheet for the backing unless its for a guest room where it would not be used or washed often.
