I have been thinking of turning my big walk in closet into a sewing room. My main concern is not having a window, would it be too claustrophic. Has anyone done this?

if it gives you space for your stuff, go for it. I only have a 4x6 space in the corner of my dining room, and since most of my sewing is done after the little one goes to bed, it is dark anyway!!

that sounds like a good plan to me, be sure to have plenty of lighting

you could design a window to make it look like you have a window (and put a valance over it) also would be cool to have a big design wall

I did a search and found this link for you

I have a beautiful space for my quilting in my basement. My only complaint is there are no windows. I have plenty of lighting, but I crave natural sun light... I mean seriously crave it. Because I'm a professional LA'r, I spend anywhere from 4-8+ hrs at a shot down there & I do tend to get 'poopee' being down there day after day.

If it's the place you can sacrifice to your quilting passion, then by all means go for it... But if you have a spare room w/a window & it hardly ever gets used, take that over! *giggles*

A large mirror gives the feeling of a larger space.

go for it, the worst thing for your stash is sunlight and you won't have to worry about that.

I think it's a great plan! I keep eying our laundry room. We could move the washer and dryer out to the garage and BAM...sewing room!

I would get claustrophobic in a short time. I crave sunshine and scenery.
