I didn't cut up a wedding dress but made my own and sved extra fabric and made a chrstening bonnet and a new skirt for the antique bassinetts, but I think I may take a look at them at salvation army and try something

My DIL had me make a christening gown for her 1st baby girl from the fabric from the skirt of her wedding dress. Then she had twin boys and I also made their christening outfits from more of the fabric. They were all very precious. She still has the bodice of the wedding dress, and most of the ornate lace that was on it. I have told her that when her daughter gets married if she could wear the bodice I could put a new skirt on it. But I think that was a wonderful use of the fabric rather than to just have the dress sealed up in a box.

I'm taking mine to a consignment store to sell it so I'll have $ for cottons for quilting. I've made a couple of wedding growns for friends/family. Been there done that! No more slippery fabric for me.

I used the scraps left over to make the quilt in my avatar for my niece's baby. She was very close to my mother whom passed away, and I ended up with her fabric remnants. Some of those remnants also went into this quilt.
