Mainly LQS -- Joann's. I can never be sure if the colors I am seeing on the screen are the true colors of the thread.

When I was at SewExpo I bought some big cones of Superior -- I love it for piecing. A local LQS went out of business a year or so ago and I got a good deal on Superior Tribal Polyester -- I have been quilting with it.

I love, love, love, King Tut by Superior Threads. The colors change every inch or so. It's cotton and a 40 wt. so it shows up more than some. It comes in a 500 yards spool and also a large cone thread which I buy since I do mid arm quilting. I buy it from either Superior Threads or Sew Thankful, both on line.

Hand quilting thread usually has a wax or glaze which gives the thread added strength. Due to the hand pulling, stretching, tying, knotting, that hand quilting threads go through, it's better to have a glazed thread since it can handle this process better. :)

I am really pleased with the varigated thread cones I bought at Hancocks on a store sale of 40% off. I have many different colors. They are wonderful, when you want to free motion something that has multiple mixed colors, and it is great in the bobbin for the same results on the backing.

I'm like Loreen. A thread geek. King Tut rules in my home. I'm close to having every color.
