Twinkie: When you first asked for ideas about the border, my first thought was that (on my monitor) rusty brown. I really like the "frame" on quilts. Would love to see a picture of the "found" fabric, to see what it would look like. Such a pretty quilt, thanks for sharing your design decisions.
