Worked on the I spy for a bit, ran out of bobbin thread so it was time to take a break and let the motor cool off. I'm quilting on my Montgomery wards machine from the 50's. It's doing great for a 60+ year old, during my break I asked DH if he wanted to venture out to go to the library, there was a movie we wanted to check out. So out in the -3 degrees we go, just did a there and back. I have a pot of chicken soup on and some noodle dough resting. Second load of laundry is in so its back to the quilt.

Congrats Pet on the finish!!! I will check in latter.

b.zang – did you decide what to make with your fat quarters? Saw you switched to boxes for the pincushions.
Thimblebug6000 – love your quilt
GingerK – congrats on the Amara. Love my Forte.
Lindaschipper – wonderful project!

Have a couple of pieces left to cut of one fabric and the quilt is completely cutout! Have almost all the squares marked for the flying geese. That means tomorrow I can start sewing. I am ready pleased I got this much done in the past couple of days. It’s only been two months since back surgery for a pinched nerve in the lower lumbar. Left leg is still weak but it was my upper back that gave out this afternoon from the ironing and cutting. PT is going to start soon and it always helps me. The cold is hittig here this afternoon so I'll be staying in and sewing!

Cam's gram....thank you so much. Right now I have 20 Kennel quilts finished and found 7 more pieces of batting already cut and ready to go. Tomorrow I'll finish those up, get them washed and dried and ready to ship off on Tuesday. Feeling accomplished!

The pin cushion idea is a great one, I will have to suggest it to my guild

Quote: This was not on my goal list but will happen instead. I and another woman are the "committee" for our guild quilt show. We came up with the idea of making pincushions with a tag advertising the show. Other times we will use them to advertise the guild. Anyhow, it occurred to me that if we want to put pincushions in various business locations, we will need something to put them in so I tried out this cloth box. Then I needed to make a pincushion for size testing. I think it will work so I'm going to make more boxes.

It most definitely is not 70s here in Ohio!!! And Dedemac--you're colder than we are

Quote: Sounds like a really productive weekend!
I am literally 1 block away from completing my pattern. I knew I was tired last evening, and that is when I make mistakes. So, I cut myself off! Stay tuned. Today is the day. I will have to help prepare for the freezing temps on Monday and Tuesday. Yesterday was in the 70s! Love South Texas!

That's awesome!

Quote: Saturday I made 14 Kennel Quilts for animals rescued from the fires in California. I have another
10 to go that I have batting cut for, so that takes care of Sunday and maybe Monday. Hopefully mailing off by UPS on Tuesday.

Tomorrow I'm working on handwork again at a different quilt shop. I'm also taking an overfilled two gallon bag of leftover binding scraps which I will sort into light and dark piles. I was lazy and didn't work on the Annies bags today either, mostly did some planning and thinking. That has to be done sometime!

After laying out the fat quarters, I think they will be nicely suited to bags. I thought they would work for a large square pattern but there aren't as many with the Japanese print as I thought and are mostly blenders or accent pieces to go with the prints.
So, I made boxes. We have quite a list of places where we'd like to put pincushions advertising our quilt show, so this is a good start.

Pixels completed! It still needs its borders. I have no more background lilac fabric. I thought I was short, but pieced together enough for the last filler. Evidently, 4 yards was not enough! On to the next stage...
