I got a bit more of giraffe finished - I'll try to post a photo tomorrow morning (still a few hours to work tonight). And, I got my UFO quilted! The pattern is Mexican Star. I picked this up 5 years ago, and assembled the top at a quilting retreat in 2012. And now it is finally quilted. Thanks to the incentive of this VQW.
And now all I can smell is dust
Any suggestions for freshening up a quilt, where the top sat for 4 years. I don't want to wash it.

I amazed myself with what I was able to accomplish this weekend. I basted and quilted two child size quilts that I will donate to my guild for charity quilts. I also cut all my left over backing from these quilts into 2 and 2 1/2 inch size and the rest went in the string bin. I pieced together batting for the two quilts and then cut 52 five inch squares of batting from leftover batting to use in a rag quilt somewhere down the line.
Here are the quilts. I purchased this in a scrap bag at my lqs and just added the brown batik sashing. The fabric is out of my comfort zone and not something I would normally buy, but I like the end result

The second is a very scrappy string quilt.

I have not yet mastered free motion quilting , but I love my walking foot. I made wavy lines on the brown quilt and then turned and did the same thing the other way which created a very cool wavy grid. On the string quilt I just did the wavy lines in one direction and then on the seams in the cross direction. I am pleased how well this worked and know that I will use it again in the future.
I am enjoying seeing everyone's progress and projects.

Kathy, how awesome that you got to attend Bonnie's string piecing workshop. Looks like a ton of fun!

Heather, Thank you for the VQW I have made very good progress on the memory quilts. Just a few outside borders left, then figure out who I want to quilt them, and when to give them to the recipients. I think it should take me about two to three weeks with what is going on in our life. Been great seeing what everyone was working on and the encouragement. Will try to join the next one in April, lets keep sewing! Everyone enjoy the spring!
