Default Virtual Quilting Weekend--Nov 6-8, 2020

Good evening all! Figured I would get the thread started tonight in case my cats allow me to sleep in tomorrow morning. I have two quilts that I would like to finish this weekend. I'm just waiting for the matching thread to arrive tomorrow! Then I hope to piece two additional quilt tops and start laying out a dahlia (Quiltsmart).Sunday I think I'm going to a friend's house to hand sew on her deck since it's going to be in the 70s here. We can socially distance ourselves and be outside so we're all comfortable with it. I have some hand applique work to do that day. I will be thrilled if I manage to get this all done.

So what are you working on this weekend? Shopping for stash, Christmas gifts, organizing, planning, or maybe something fun for yourself. Please join us this weekend and share your progress.

Next VQW will be December 18-20. Any interest in a New Year's Day virtual quilt along?

Always so nice of you to set these up. I've pretty much cleared my schedule so that I can start the new Bonnie Hunter "Grassy Creek" mystery project on Black Friday. The one thing I have left to do is the Frolic UFO put together so it can return to its real home, and this will be the perfect weekend to get it going. Current status is most subunits have been made and all parts for each block/setting triangle were put into a baggy a couple of virtual weekends ago. This is part of what I consider the fun part, that it starts to actually look like something and take shapes quickly -- and some of my friends find this one of the tedious or stressful parts, but I just like zipping along. If I can get the blocks made by the end of the weekend, I'll be happy. Anything over that will be gravy

My husband took a couple days off this week, but he'll be working a long day Saturday which is projected to be cold and cloudy but no fresh rain until Monday. Perfect quilting weather and time

I am absolutely in for VQW! I just finished glue basting four quilts and plan to work on quilting them this weekend. I bought the thread I will be using on two of them today. Also, we have snow in our forecast starting tonight, so it will be a great weekend for quilting here!

Thanks for hosting! I'll be making Christmas ornaments this weekend, including one (or two!) for the Christmas Ornament swap. So I probably won't share pictures, so it will be a surprise for the recipient.. But I'll be enjoying all your photos!

I’m in! Thanks for hosting again.

My sewing mojo left me earlier this week but came back a little today. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for full strength tomorrow. Lol!

I made a couple of kits last year and recently pulled them out to complete so they will be my sewing projects. I do need to search for one of my crazy blocks that I finished recently. It couldn’t have gone far. My sewing area is pretty clean right now so I will need to look if it slipped down beside my sewing machine. 🤷‍♀️

On Saturday and Sunday, I will sort through my box of mismatched squares during a couple of football games. It’s my birthday on Saturday and I’m waiting to hear from my youngest son if he feels it’s safe to get together. My grandson is 9 months old and had a cold last week. Otherwise, my oldest son and I will probably finish up some yard work. It’s been high 60’s-mid 70’s. What a change from 8” of snow a few weeks ago. I love above average temps this time of year!

Thank you for hosting! Assuming we get the tractor parts needed while taking soup to a friend's family (she had an appendix rupture and is in hospital!)in town tomorrow, I'll be able to participate all day Sat. and Sunday! I need to put facing on a wall hanging map for one grandson's Christmas, load a customer quilt on the long arm, cut the other Grandson's Christmas quilt (actually just ordered the Accuquilt die for it but do need to cut my strips so that I can figure out if I bought enough fabric today!); and work on an applique to go on a lap quilt for niece's daughter's Christmas. Oh, and have to do some cutting for an on line class I'm doing in a week. So yes--I will definitely be "in".
Retiredteacher09--sure hope you can get together with your family on your birthday. We had the chance to all gather in a park last Sunday for about an hour (masked too) with son's family in town--then Monday night he called to say he was running a fever. Hasn't been tested yet, but talked to his Dr. who feels its likely influenza A (although he did get a flu shot about 2 weeks before ) as his oldest son had 4 days of it too. Keeping my fingers crossed--he's still running fever and Dr. wants him to come to ER tomorrow if still running a fever as worried about dehydration. I'm worried!

I’m in. May not get much done today as we have plans to test drive some cars. Our 22 year old Tahoe finally bit the dust last month and we’re trying to figure out what we want to do about replacing it. Cars have changed a lot in the last 20 years LOL!

Anyway, I hope to get a bit of straightening done in my quilting studio today and then tomorrow I am going to tackle a UFO panel that has been sitting on the pile for at least 6 years. And of course, there’s the big butterfly which needs to have some unquilting done....

Quiltingshorttimer- I hope your son has a speedy recovery.

Thanks for hosting, raggiemom.

I want to be in. Today, I'll be shopping. Saturday and Sunday will help DD & SIL during last 2 days of packing to move from Calif to Florida. I'll probably need therapy on Monday.

Good morning everyone, yes I am in on the weekend, my plans are as such and hopefully they don't get changed much, I need to cut out more mask for children that I want to donate, I need to work on another apron that's been cut out for several years now. I am going to go through my scraps and trim me out some 1.5 squares and I am going to cut out me some pajama bottom to have finish for when I travel next month.

Raggimom thank you for hosting, I hope that you get your projects to a good place.
Quiltingshorttimer praying for your son

Stay safe everyone

I am in again and thanks for hosting. This event always seems to sneak up on me but is much needed. I will start the week-end with a quick straighten up in the sewing room then dive in to finish some projects.

1. Finish my quota of fleece hats and mittens for donation - Two more to go
2. Finish the chemo pouches with the materials on hand - need to finish 15
3. Tops for two small quilts for Project Linus - one started
4. Bonus project: quilt one large throw that is sandwiched and ready to go

December's VQW is on my calendar and I would be interested in a New Year's Day event!
