Good morning everyone! I wanted to thank raggiemom for hosting once again and say I would absolutely be interested in a New Year’s VQW. It’s still early here in Alaska and my daughter is still sleeping so I can’t start sewing yet. I am eager to do so, though!

We are going to be hand seeding 3 acres of wild flower seeds that are so small you can hardly see them. I am helping as much as I can tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, I plan to work on my black & white quilt. Was going to attend a quilt day with friends but one of them came down with Covid-19 so it will have to wait. Such an awful virus.

I’m finishing up a wallhanging that has some cherry blocks and basket blocks. I decided to add a very small flange between the quilt and border, and that is causing me a lot of grief.

Fabric Galore

Thank for you organizing this quilting weekend. I don't know how much I will get done but I finished quilting 3 table runners that are Christmas gifts and I need to go to my LQS to buy some Color Catcher so I can wash them and I also want to buy fabric for a baby quilt for Great grandchild #13. It is a boy and I am making a Fisherman Fred for him because his older brother and Grandpa love to go fishing together and I am sure he will join them at an early age. I also have a wall hanging I want to finish for Thanksgiving and another table runner for a Christmas gift. If I get half of this done I will be thrilled.

I'm in! I may not finish what I want to do but I have a wall hanging that I just started and hope to get finished this weekend. I am using my Accuquilt and a new die to do this fun project. I just finished a sample block now it is one to the project that will require a total of 12 blocks. I am so looking forward to getting a great start on it. Who knows I may get it finished.

So I did a bit of tidying up (more than scrapping off my cutting mat but less than actual "cleaning") and re-familiarized myself with the project.

Most of what I did today was make pinwheels out of HST, I had to be careful which way the colors swirled, but now all the baggies have their pinwheels. Next step is I have to make specific Wild Goose units to match the swirls/fabrics in the pinwheels.

Going to take a sewing break and go to Costco with the hubby when he gets home (eek, Costco on Friday night not my favorite but hubby gets off early enough it isn't bad). Next goal is to get these geese units pinned, hopefully can get them done tonight for early morning sewing.

Going block by block isn't really my favorite way for construction, for me doing scrappy part of the joy is putting them together willy-nilly, these blocks are actually quite carefully planned and have to be constructed accordingly. I found out last time (and it's holding true this time) I can only do about 4-5 at a time without getting too confused and spending too much time trying to find the correction combinations.

But each round leaves less confusion for the next. And it gets faster and easier each time as well.

I should mention again, that the person who started this did excellent work and I love the fabric choices. Piecing like this is indeed my favorite part of the whole process, when all the little bits come together,

It's good to have PT at 9:00am, forced me to get out of bed, rather that make up for insomnia. Shopping day went very well. First, get gas, drive to Fresno, check out & purchase the LQS for backing material, check another LQS, get calendar, lunch, Lowes for plants-struck out, nursery had most of what I needed, bank for cash, another Lowes, home. 2 hrs driving, total 6 hrs. And no dr appointments.
Now I can get going on BOTW. First a nap.

Rob: Good luck on car hunting. My son sells vehicles so I got my last one through him.

I spent a few hours sewing but mostly just going through a small container of fabrics and sorting them and then working on my ‘trim’ up pile. I also put away some odds and ends fabric laying around.
