Don't know the answer but you may want to consider matching taste with success so all you need to do in the future is go by taste to determine how each individual bottle is going to size -- light, medium, stiff. ... .

I use the vodka and distilled water with a drop of scent. It doesn't matter if it is grain vodka or potato vodka. It has made a good substitute for me. I tried sta flo or other starches and if you let it sit it becomes rancid. The vodka substitute does not make the fabric stiff as starch does, but it does allow to iron out wrinkles and flatten seams. It works for me. Give it a try.

This is the substitution recipe for Best Press that I use. I found it on the net somewhere, but to be honest, I'll stick to my starch, it goes farther and makes my fabric stiff.
2 cups distilled water,1/4 C Vodka. If you want it to be unscented, simply leave out the essential oil,6-12 drops of 100% pure essential oil, 1/3 cup of liquid starch. Shake well before each use.
