Default Wall hanging for an office suggestions?

My son was just promoted to Vice President of a local hospital. I want to make him a small wall hanging for his office to celebrate this. What do you suggest for a pattern idea? Thank you!

Congratulations! to your son first of all. Of course you can always go with a traditional block pattern fashioned like a barn quilt. That always works and should not be difficult to make. A more contemporary design may be a bit more of a challenge but still exciting. What ever you decide be sure it works with carpet or flooring of the room and other décor of the room. I love a nice size wall hanging but not to big in my office space when I was still working. No more than 36"x36". You don't want it to overwhelm the space. I am guessing this would be a good size space considering the promotion. Keep us posted on what you decide.

Debbie Downer suggest to ask him if it would be appropriate. Maybe mug rug would be better.

Overall, I think I would look to him for input and guidance.
He may or may not want a quilt in his work space.
Too, he may have some great personal suggestions for you.
Better to work with him, than have the risk of disappointment for you.

There's two themes that I would consider, if it were ...
* something covid/health related ... eg. vaccine needle, the hospital's logo, etc.
* something with a nod to his personal interests beyond his hospital life

Depending on how small, your definition of small is ...
maybe consider a revolving series, not necessarily monthly, but seasonally/quarterly?

I second (or is it third?) the suggestion to make sure this is appropriate and welcome. If it is, my first thought was a landscape style of quilt.

I heartily agree with checking with your son on whether he would want a quilt wall hanging in his office, and if so, what sort of look and/or color scheme appeals to him.

That said, I saw this quilt at a local show and the maker said her husband claimed it for his (home?) office. This quilt design is shown in the Log Cabin With A Twist book.

Perfect quilt for an office - I would have claimed it too.

if his office area does not have windows, maybe a landsacpe quilt would be nice to bring some outdoors inside to him.

something soft like watercolor painting look or a quilt clock maybe. small but interesting. nothing that would stand out unless he likes that sort of thing. some men don't. Have fun figuring out what he wants. let us know.....
