I use "Grundtal" kitchen rails and hooks from Ikea. I love it! I need more hooks now, though. This was right after I installed it - it's a bit more crowded now that I live with it.

The rails are right above my cutting table, within easy reach. Works great for me, I've found all sorts of other things to hang on there, now, LOL.

I have a really big wall, so I bought 3 3x4 foot peg boards, painted each of them with 2 different quilt block patterns, and hung them on the wall so that the sides are touching. I have a really cute 9 x 4 tool wall now.

I have used a peg board with a thin frame around it. I like it because the pegs can be moved around for different items at different times. Everything is in easy reach of my machine.

Peg board and the rails with hooks are both good ideas. When my wife and I had a small antiques business about 5 years ago we also used slat wall for our displays. There's various hooks and bins that can be hung off it depending on your needs.

I found white pegboard at Lowe's which meant I didn't have to settle for a true industrial (garage) look, and didn't have to paint it.

I have unpainted pegboard [white from the store however].......hubby put a frame around the back edges so the hooks are not up against the wall. I have too many rulers etc. to 'map' them out so I would know where they go back. I also hang 'templates' from different manufacturers in sturdy bags from the pegs.

In case you haven't noticed, peg board is the way to go. That's what I use too. :O)

DH installed 1" x 2" strips on the outside of the pegboard -- made it easy to install, and out from the wall far enough to hang the various metal hooks. I love that I can move things around. Wish I'd thought of painting it before we put it on the wall, though!

Sounds like it is unanimous for the pegboard--I guess that is what I will consider when I get to that point!!

Like the others, I too, have a peg board, nothing fancy. I have several pegs of different lengths, so I can move them around as I need to make things fit. I have it right in front of my cutting table, so I can just reach and grab a ruler or cutter when I need it.
