I have the same problem. I also have a Brother. I have foam tape as my 1/4 in guide, so I put my fabric right up against it but it always have to hold my hand on the fabric to keep it from veering left. Its annoying, and I also thought it was my lack of skill

I have a Brother SE350 and have this problem. I am going to change the needle plate tomorrow and see if it helps. I will let you know what happens!

EXACTLY! It's enough to drive me crazy. Some good solutions are posted. Yahoo! The only think I don't believe will help is the pinning every inch. It doesn't prevent "swimming"...for lack of a better word.

it is a feed dog issue...not enough pressure on top AND the dogs on the bottom might not be screwed down properly!

Ohhhh my gosh! It IS the feeddog! I increased the pressure first by 1 point and noticed a slight difference. Increased another point and YES it is soooo much better. THANK YOU for all your suggestions but this one get a "GOLD STAR"!!! :-)

I'm so glad it worked for you! I have a low end Brother, so I'm not sure how I could fix mine.
