My mother used was paper to clean her iron, salt on wax papers if something stuck on iron. I have used Soft Scrub, no bleach, to clean my iron, and glass stove top. Spot
Scrub has mild abrasives.
Mom also put old candle or wax cake between terry rag, then ironed over rag with hot iron. This cleaned her iron.

It works pretty good if you have some salt on the wax paper, and have a towel ready, then after doing the paper, iron the towel, usually works pretty good.

YES!! You take waxed paper and put salt on it and run your hot iron over it. It works and the wax makes your iron slick. It works super!

I have been using wax paper on my irons for years. After cleaning the sole plate you run the heated iron over the wax paper to make the iron glide better over fabric.

I use a fresh fabric softener sheet (dryer sheet) to clean my iron. I put an old towel on my ironing board, put the dryer sheet on it, and iron away until all the gunk's gone! It's very important to then rub the soleplate of the iron on a towel or piece of cloth to get the fabric softener residue off. I use wax paper too, to make my iron glide better.

I use the dryer sheet and wax paper. I just iron over the dryer sheet and fold up the wax paper so there is an end and use while the iron is cooling. it needs to be hot but i don't like it too hot.

I tried the dryer sheet on my lunch break.....Works great! I am excited. I have plenty of dryer sheets!
