I pin like crazy on long strips. Hardly pin individual pieces at all. If I happen to be sewing a garment, I baste like crazy.

I'm a spanking brand new quilter and I need my backside smacked because I don't pin unless I have too. I keep promising myself to do better next time but....

I'm like you Jodi. I pin for long rows but not when piecing blocks or even short rows. I never bring pins to class. There are always a few pincussions laying around the classroom, should I need a pin or two. Then I just put them back before I leave.

I never pin. Would take too much time and take the fun out of it for me!! I also don't make very complicated quilts and I don't mind if seams don't match perfectly. If it is off too much, I will rip it out though and redo.

Some times I pin at seams but not as much as I used to.

omgosh I have a pin every inch with my seams to make sure they are all straight. Is this normal ? Do we out grow the need to over pin as time goes on ?
Nope, don't pin unless it is to match up a central seam. I have enough gadgets and special feet to allow me to not pin. Sometimes I put a few pins in when I am applying binding and to hold the edges of a quilt sandwich, but usually don't bother with pins.

I'm exactly the opposite :-) I started out with pinning and then found that I had better points and seems using feel and fingers. EXCEPT for purring together compasses or certain triangles.
