I am teaching a needle turn applique class and I am going to select the pattern (or draw one). Im wanting to cover all bases in one pattern: curves, points, circles etc. Any suggestions??

I don't know whose class my sister was taking, but it was a Sunbonnet Sue small wall hanging. It still sits in my sewing room with the needle still in the unfinished project. She lost her battle with colon cancer before completing it.

The class I took was a wall hanging, it had four flowers with round centers and leaves along a stem that connected all the flowers into a circle. It was great, not intimidating, not overwhelming but enough to know whether you wanted to tackle a full applique quilt or not.

Would another technique be, doing the handle of a basket ... inside/outside curve with a narrow piece of fabric?

I have always liked the heart. It can be done scrappy or more formal. Just be sure to start on a flat side heading to the curve or to the point (I think it works best this way!).
