I was given a cute 18"ish quilted square with different loops of ribbon, 3 loops to a side.

I saw these online and it is a baby blanket so the baby plays with the tags on the edges of the quilt

Yeah it is some version of a taggie. They have a bunch of tags for the baby to play with. My son had a teddy bear with all the different tags. The idea is that the favorite part of blankets or stuffed animals is the tags. So there is a whole bunch of them :)

My grandson is 5 months old and I'm pretty sure he is teething, because the tags on the toy softies are all wet. Seems like the tags are the favorite part of the object! Like playing with boxes that gifts come in.

Baby's love them for the different textures of the ribbons. I made one for one of my clients little guy and his dad left it at the mall at Christmas time, she asked me to make him another as her carried it everywhere and rubbed a piece of the ribbon on his cheek when going to sleep.

Do the babies ever get their fingers stuck in the ribbons? When wet I can see that happening...

I had that thought also, on the one I made I used shorter pieces of ribbon for just that reason.
