What a beauty....You are so lucky to get it open and no damage done to cabinet. Enjoy her :)

That is the most beautiful machine I have ever seen. I hope I can find one when I am able to get back out going places.

See if you can pick it with a paper clip in the hole.

I have one just like it. It needs a key for that lock. There's a vintage sewing machine in there. Yes! Very heavy.

Now that she is out should I offer it back to my sister? She really didn't seem to want it!

KEEP it! What beautiful colors and designs on it. You appreciate its beauty and your sis 'really didn't seem to want it'. Accept the gift graciously and give her a big hug and thank you next time you see her.

I think she is beyond beautiful! ( and I was not actively looking for a vintage machine...)

Maybe I have more of an affinity for it because my grandmother taught me to sew when I was 7 or 8 on her old Singer treadle machine. My sister two years younger didn't get to use that machine because by the time she was old enough my grandmother was dying.
You might be surprised if you knew the history of that particular machine. Mine was given to me, too, and fortunately, they knew it had come over with relatives on a ship from England. Hand crank means we can sew even when we can't see due to no electricity.

OH, you lucky, lucky lady! I bet you are going to get a very nice surprise. Do NOT let your husband near it with any tools. This has to be treated very carefully. Good luck!
