I use 2" wide binding and I have no problems working with it.

I also use 2 1/4". That seems to work for me.

    2 ½" .... I hate the look of a skimpy binding.

I always do 2" to 2 1/2" cut strips. Yesterday I had a quilting teacher tell me I was all wrong I needed to use 3 1/2" strips to have stability. Oh well

What a silly statement for your teacher to make. I am just shaking my head. Lol. I use 2-1/2 or 2-1/4 depends on the body of the quilt. Guess we can decide for our quilt.

2½" for Jan in VA. Sew to front, hand turn to back.

    Depends -

on how wide I want the finished binding
on how thick the batting is

Most of the time I use 2-1/2" if I am machine binding, and 2-1/4" if I am going to hand bind, and 1-1/2" if doing single fold binding for hand binding. With hand surgery years ago, I only do machine binding on large quilts, and when I feel my hand is up to it, will do hand binding on a small project such as small quilt or table runner.
