What is the cut width of your binding strips?
#65
I want to try a new to me method of sewing down the binding. My sister told me about it and you sew it to the front, and then fold it to the back and stitch in the ditch on the front, catching the back. My sister pins in the ditch on the front, making sure that the back is pulled over enough. Does anyone use this method-and if so, what width do you cut it and what seam allowance do you use? I'm nervous to try it for some reason.

I have always used a2.5 width because I was taught that way. Thanks for the post . It will be fun trying out new widths and methods. I guess I need to start thinking "outside of the box" and experiment a little.

It depends on the width of your seam. If you want it to fold over, meet and just cover the stitches on the back and be filled with quilt top/back and batting, then you have to adjust the cut width accordingly. Whatever does this then is the right size width.
