My son needs about 12 tablecloths and sets of napkins.
White tablecloths and black napkins.
We have searched all over for fabric and can't find anything.
I don't even know what fabric would work for this.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :D

I always buy inexpensive cotton fabric for table cloths for events that I have hosted. You can get a good price if you buy a full bolt of fabric from Joann's using your 40% off coupon. Kona cotton would be a good one, Look for something without printing on the selvage. That way you don't have to finish the selvage edges. You can do a simple rolled hem on the other ends or cut them with pinking shears. Nobody notices that end. For the napkins just purchase your fabric Black fabric be it a print or a solid and cut squares and do a rolled hem or if you have access to a serger do a rolled hem on there. They make up very fast and look very nice. 44" wide fabric is good width for banquet tables.

There are also places that specialize in renting or selling tablecloths and napkins.

google "napkin rental" or "linens rental"

Might be less hassle and perhaps a draw for cost.

I have purchased restaurant style, white tablecloths at a reasonable price from Sam's Club. What are the sizes you need? Mine are 54" square of blend 55 cotton and 45 polyester which has been treated for stain resistance. When using an extra long dining table, I simply overlap the cloths. This size is easier for me to handle:-)

There is a fabric store in Portland that sells very wide fabric for tablecloths. I have made my daughter two of these. The fabric width is I think 72 inches, but may be even wider. I know this fabric is available and probably available on the internet somewhere. I have made napkins from this same fabric - it's polyester so it's not as nice to sew with as cotton, but it works. I have done embroidery on the napkins as well. The embroidery comes out very nicely.

If you want to use 100 percent cotton, you might encounter problems unless you are willing to use quilt backing fabric which comes in very wide widths. Not as easy to launder (and iron) as polyester though.
