Default What is the difference ??

What is the difference between the Jaybird Sidekick
http://www.jaybirdquilts.com/2013/07...-sidekick.html
and the Creative Grids Lazy Angle Ruler
http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/NOTI...zy-Angle-Ruler
I have been chopping at the bit to start cutting the fabric for this pattern called Ditto from Jaybird:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/DITTO-QUILT-...EAAOxyNThTdMK3
Have pulled purple and turquoise fabrics.

I have both and there is a difference try and put the pictures side by side and you will see. I love all Jaybird patterns and have all her rulers.....I've only made the Ballerina quilt twice, but have her Splash, Gravity,Glimmer just to name a few, that I have made up kits for.....Oh yeah Jaybird rocks lol

Btiny36 is right about the difference. I really like JayBird mini Hex and More ruler. I use up a lot of scraps.

I would suggest to watch each video on youtube explaining the uses of these rulers. Jaybird sidekick makes diamonds as where lazy angle doesn't....Jaybird has a pattern she created to use the lazy angle ruler it's called Carnival, which I have both the pattern and lazy angle ruler. As of now, Jaybird has the Hex-in-more ruler, sidekick ruler, super sidekick ruler and the mini hex-in-more ruler...Although you don't need her rulers to make any of her patterns as she has template diagrams in her patterns, but me being me, I prefer to have the rulers...don't think I could have done Ballerina quilt without the hex-n-more ruler....but that's just me......with the lazy angle ruler there is only one certain diagonal cut in different sizes and the sidekick ruler cuts 3 different shapes in 4 different sizes....
Here is the lazy angle video

Sidekick ruler video

Jaybird has videos on all her rulers....

The Sidekick Ruler is based on an equilateral triangle - 60-60-60 degrees.

The Lazy Angle ruler is based on a Square - the B triangle as angles of approximately 63.43, 90.00 and 26.57 degrees.

Too much brain overload for me. Just buy the ruler for the pattern. LOL

Sometimes that does make life much easier - at least for that particular pattern. Make sure you pick up the correct ruler/gadget/tool, though.

Thanks bearisgray for the diagram. I thought the angle was a little different, too. Now the truth is known. The sidekick is on sale at Craftsy for under $11, FYI, if that makes a difference.
