    i've figured out some of the abbreviations people are using but not others. is there a list somewhere i can access?

    I haven't seen a list, because they are not extablished by Administration, but by users.
    A lot of letter combos are family references: DH = dear husband, SIL = son-in-law or sister-in-law (I don't know how to tell which), etc.
    FQ = fat quarter, WOF = width of fabric, LOF = Lengthwise of fabric
    Depending on your computer, you may see smilies as faces or as letter and character combinations. :-) is either :,-,) or a smiling yellow face.
    Anytime you don't recognize an abreviation, it is fine to ask!

    BTW, it will take a little time to FIO, seems like we are talking an alien language here sometimes. It is so fun. IMHO you will learn quickly. WElcome to the board.

    Thanks for those explanations. I have been wondering too. Now I can know much beter what I'm reading. I thought I was supposed to know them (after all didn't ALL of you know them ???) I guess I'm not alone after all. sue

    No, in fact, I asked if there was a "sticky" with abbreviations specifically related to quilting. In fact, I think I just asked a couple of days ago.

    Each craft/hobby tends to have its own abbreviations and it takes a while to learn them.
