Bonnie Hunter says "if it's ugly, cut it small, if it's still ugly, you haven't cut it small enough!" As was said above, cut it small and all that will matter is value.

Sounds to me like you have an I Spy quilt just waiting to happen!

Anything cut small enough or skinny enough loses the 'ugly' and becomes a color element.

Dunster, your scrappy log cabin is stunning! It is amazing that you took all those scraps that didn't really go together and made something so beautiful. I love it! You have inspired me to use up my scraps. I only hope my quilt will be half as beautiful as yours.

There are alot of great ideas on what to do with your scraps, my favorite thing to do is crumb quilting with the small scraps. The larger pieces I keep stored for another project someday.

It sounds to me like you have the makings of an "I Spy" quilt, if you have a young person (or young at heart) in mind.
So many great ideas came from the members on this board, I know you will find the perfect one for you. Have fun with it.

I'm going to start sorting this weekend. I'll try to get a picture of what I have! I don't think I have enough of anything "interesting" to do an Ispy, and I hate cutting, so I think a scrappy is OUT! LOL I don't think my fabric is "ugly", I just don't think they necessarily go together.

i used a lot of my stash just making a lot of different free block patterns and then put them together with sashing, a neutral color put them all together quite well
