I really enjoy decorating for Christmas. I save my old spools and run a ribbon through the center and hang them on a little Christmas tree I put up in my sewing room. I also use bobbins hung on bright ribbon for more sparkle, and drape those colored plastic measuring tapes around it to use as garland.

i let mine pile up because i keep telling myself i ought to find a way to repurpose them.

after a while i look at the pile, acknowledge reality, and toss the suckers.

then i let more pile up ....

I list anything I hate to throw out on Freecycle. I've posted everything from furniture, film canisters, clothespins, and fabric scraps (before I discovered quilting)! Teachers can really get creative with objects we normally throw away. :thumbup:

Being a preschool teacher they are wonderful for building, stringing and using with paint! I am sure that any preschool would love the donation!

Sewmom, I really like your lamp! Very creative!

I donate spools, medicine bottles, film canisters, etc to teachers and scouts, also. If they don't make use of them they will pass it on to someone that can.

I use the larger ones when I have a quilt taped down on the floor for basting or using that quilting gun thingy. They lift the quilt off the floor or carpet so you don't scratch floor with needle or stitch quilt to carpet. Works good for me.
