I tired it 1 time. I agree about the joins. I don't care for them, but I did do a decorative stitch across them and it looks better. Can't rule it out yet.

    How below:
Cut squares for the center, your choice of size 2 and one same size for batting. Ziz-zag together w/batting between squares.
Cut strips of fabric and batting, all the same width.
    For each seam:
strip of batting, strip of fabric, right side up,
center square, strip of fabric, right side down, sew seam. Sewing thru all layers.
Press away from center, trim strips to correct size, pin together edges.
Do opposite side exactly the same.
Stack each seam in like order.
This is the way Eleanor Burns taught me in her first book.
    "Turn me Over, I'm Reversible"
Continue in this manner until you reach the size desired.
Fun to do, use all those strips.

Made a beautiful rose-teal one for my mother (which I inherited) and a batik one for my husband--both were very welcomed. I have more confidence in quilting these than otherwise. Anita Murphy (RIP) has a great "Reversible Indian Hatchet" pattern in her book.

Could we see pictures of those quilts, Carolyne? Did you find it difficult to do?

cut out 4 squares of your background fabric,,,,
cut out 4 squares of you pinwheel fabric,,,
    i made mine 6 inches
take 1 square of your background fabric and 1 square of your pinwheel fabric...fold your pinwheel fabric in a triangle,,line up on background fabric,,,sew close to edge, half way down fold the bottom of triangle over to corner,,,then finish sewing down,,,do 4 squares like this then lay out to get the pattern and then sew together,,real easy to do,,just time consuming,,takes a lot of material

The tutorial for Cathedral Windows that I recently saw describes it as a QAYG quilt with really beautiful results. I want to do a cathedral window soon.
