This is what is so wonderful about this board. History, techniques, and wonderful support and encouragement.

Thanks for the web site love the mean of a quilt I read on it.,''
There's nothing like a quilt, to comfort anxious minds. Its threads are soft and molding, as it's crease and folds unwind.
As we await this war at hand, we reach for things to do. Quilting with your needle, may just be the thing to do.
We express our thoughts and prayers, using quilts as best we can. Fundraising efforts of the past are once again at hand.
Blocks of support, with Red Cross Signs, are stitched with "peace" in mind. They come together in a quilt, like none you'll ever find.

This is why this site is so great because of the sharing of knowledge of quilting with each other.

From what I've heard and read, some patterns, like Jacob's Ladder and Snail's Trail, were traditionally done in red & white. Others were done in blue & white - I've seen some gorgeous Delft-themed quilts in blue & white. Shamrock quilts are usually green & white. I don't know if this has any particular significance or is symbolic, but I thought it was interesting.
