Mine look great after washing and drying. I mostly do FMQ, use high loft poly batting. Every quilt gets washed and dried when finished. Washing and drying any and all quilts hide any spots you may be unhappy with.

I was always told to Never line dry a wet quilt. The weight of the quilt starts breaking threads. They should be either tumble dried or laid flat to dry.

The weight of a king sized quilt when wet would cause the thread breakage when hung. Wet quilts should be either laid flat to dry or tumble dried, never hung. The threads can not hold up to the weight stress.
