I finished my quilt, will take a photo soon, but want to put my signature on it. I know I should not use a sharpie, that will wash out, so asking what type of pen do you use to sign your quilt?

I use Pigma pens- they have a nice fine point.

I read where sharpie ink will come out with washing, have you had that problem? It may depend on the type of fabric, I used all 100% cotton for my quilt.

I'm glad you asked this. I have never signed a quilt with a pen for fear that it will wash out, but my daughter needs to make and sign a signature block and I was wondering what kind of pen to purchase for her to use.

Aren't sharpies the same as (permanent) laundry pens ? I've always thought so.

My daughters do scrapbooking and use Creative Memories pens. They are permanent, fade resistant, water resistant, acid-free, lignen-free, come in lots of colors. I use those and really like them.

I typically use Pigma pens, but also have a collection of Tsukneko "Fabrico" acid free markers with dual tips which work well, though have a broader tip than the Pigma pens. Both have held up to washing and do not bleed as long as you write with a light touch. I would recommend always doing a test/draft on a scrap of the material to be used for your label. I also lightly press the quilt label when finished to "set" the ink.
