What machine do you use FMQ on?
#71
Hello SusieQ, I have the 98E and have loved it until it's tension goes wrong on it's own while in the middle of FMQ... taking it in to be looked at next week instead of looking for a new one...
But boy, I'd love to have the 2010..Looks like 2000 was a dud, by the low prices and reviews...
Hope it will work as well as your's apparently does.. which one do you have?

Only reason I think I know BSR is a friend is going to give me her Bernina 820 and I've been looking it up and watching tutorials.

One of two Singer 301s is preferred, but my 1949 Necchi was a good substitute when the only 301 I had then was having its plug repaired. I've been eyeing a Singer 66 Redeye for this king size quilt because of the harp space, but I don't have a ruler foot for it, only a slant needle one.

KELSIE, BSR=Bernina Stitch Regulator.
I started FMQ on my Bernina with BSR and thought it was just wonderful. Then as I evolved I wanted to go faster than the BSR would allow. So I bought a Juki TL2010q. Stitches are so much nicer and it is a faster machine. I still use both as the Juki is a straight stitch only. It took a while to learn to be my own regulator and I'm still not 100% but getting there.

I FMQ On my Brother Nouvelle 1500s HS straight stich machine
I just bought a 2nd hand Brother Nouvelle 1500s for $350. For me, there was a steep learning curve- I've always had digital machines, so the mechanical aspect of this one was very cool to me. I watched every video I could find..Struggled horribly with tension issues. ... my dream was to FMQ with 12wt varigated sulky thread on my quilt I was putting together with QAYG. I got the half pieces done and was ready to go. But was getting birds nests and couldn't get tension high enough...
My Brother Nouvelle 1500s needed cleaning and oiled and after setting it up with Schmetz HS needles, putting 12wt in bobbin..Off to my trusted Brother Tech I went .. We soon realized I had put one of the tension discs on backwards when I reassembled it. Now it FMQs like a dream. really. like . I love love love it! .. can't recommend this one enough. They can be found online for way less than $1000.. some for around $500 something.. .
