I recently purchased a Hinterberg Quilting Hoop at an Estate Sale and this piece of equipment came with it. Does anyone know what it is called or what it is used for? Thanks in advance for any help!

Is it for making those sleeping mats from the milk bags? I saw a frame that looked something like this one at a quilt show and they used it for that, as well as for rugs for a floor made from fabric strips.

Would it be a tapestry frame?

I would go into the Hinterberg site and look around. Maybe you can find it. I see where you can move that center bar to the other slots including the other side.

My first thought was hand quilting but I don't think that is right no where to hold fabric taut.

I'm also thinking tapestry frame. If you do find out, please let us know!

My bet is a weaving loom. It has a lot of elements that a weaving loom has, but whether it is all there - I do not know.

Welcome to the board from Southern California. I have no idea what it is. Have you looked on eBay??

It is a puzzle for sure with those pegs sticking up in the front and bottom sides. The pegs don't seem close enough to be for weaving on it but, it is obvious that it is for some sort of hand work. I am thinking maybe the hoop interchanges out with the frame that is in the frame now or that it fits into the open slots.
The pegs could be for your yarns if it was for crewel embroidery or counted cross stitching. But why would there be some on the bottom? A real puzzle, for sure.

I checked out a google search and I think maybe it is a rug hooking frame. Check this one out ...
