I have a pair of 6 inch gold seal scissors my dad gave me 55 years ago, to be used for sewing only! I was 11 and just got out of sixth grade, took a mother/daughter sewing class with my mother at the Pfaff sewing center, down town SD. In 55 years those scissors have only been used for sewing, fabric and thread. and they have only been sharpened once, they are still sharp!

My Kai scissors were less than $20.00, and they have free shipping. I have never sharpened them. They are razer sharp.
I love how they grip the fabric as I cut with them. My next Kai purchase will be a rotary cutter.

I love my Ginghers. I also like the Fiskar's soft touch shears. Ginghers seem to stay sharp longer than the Fiskar's do.
I think Fiskar's scissors would be good for crafting, don't think I'd use Ginghers for paper though.

I wish I had had a pair of Ginghers when I was making cloths for my 4 kids. I wouldn't part with them now. I have the regular pair and a smaller pair. But if anyone even thought that they were going to touch paper with them, they would lose fingers!
