I do a lot of baby quilts by request, and I love to make queen size quilts for weddings. For a birthday or a just because gift, I make a "generous" couch quilt, which is more of a full size.
I go by my husband, he's 6'4" and if it completely covers him up and it's wider than his arm-span, that's the size I usually finish at.

If I'm using a pattern I try to do twin or larger. If I'm just using a block and making up my own pattern they usually wind up being queen size. I have done a few king size, however, and a few baby quilts but the last baby quilt I made was 60 x 60. I guess I don't do anything small (lol).
