Default What are the smallest batting scraps you'll put together?

Just curious.

I spent an hour or two sorting out batting scraps and zigzagging them together.

The smallest pieces I did were 1" strips.

I was meaning to get it done for a while and kept putting it off but today I had some time to kill waiting for backing to go through laundry.

I have used thin strips in a few projects, quilt as you go strip blocks, purses, totes, baskets, rugs etc, but to see together & use in a large quilt the smallest was probably 25"-30" wide by length of batting. I find other uses for the smaller pieces

I guess that has never really been a concern of mine -- I use scraps over 8" to practice my quilting or may piece them together for a small wall hanging. I don't think I would use my time to piece small scraps of batting but some people are more frugal than I am!

You have more patience than I do! I will piece together batting scraps but not that small.

Can't remember the size, but no more than 4 pieces for the quilt. Anything less than 12" wide goes into the scrap pile for pet beds.

For me I think it would depend on the project for which I was using the batting piece. A test project; smallish bag; something like that I might piece some smallish pieces together. Probably not as small as you used only because I wouldn't have the patience. But if I was off just a bit...who knows.

Wow, I never piece together more than2 or 3 pieces for a quilt or placemat, and I don't do other projects. But I admire your dedication to recycling. My smaller scraps are saved for dog beds.

I am like you . I will piece together anything over a 1inch strip. Its amazing how fast you can accumulate bits and put them together for something project size.
