I use YLI silk thread for hand applique. I highly recommend this site for price and quick delivery. The lady who runs it is very nice too. She can get any color made in spools or cones.

Presencia floss does not bleed ever. DMC floss some colors will bleed or rub off on the fabric. Everyone has some DMC floss laying around and it's used the most for hand embroidery but test the strong colors first to be sure there is no bleeding. I have used fine crochet thread for embroidery and I noticed some decorative quilting thread would be good embroidery thread but there isn't the selection like in floss colors.

The only thread that will not lint one teeny tiny piece of lint is silk thread. If you haven't tried machine quilting or handwork using silk then you have to try it. I won't use any other to hand appliqué. Connecting Threads has silk applique thread kit on sale. It's the best price I've seen in a long time.

That is all I've ever used also. I like it. If you are happy with it that's what matters.

I use Connecting Threads Essential threads exclusively. I also bought the cone size for piecing. I love their thread and my sewing machines do, too.
