    I used polyester machine embroidery thread. Double thread in the needle and a good knot on the end. It's fun to see them come together.

    I use coats and clark hand quilting thread, even doubled, regular sewing thread can still pop when stitching and absolutely when the finished item is laundered. A really fun carry along project!

    There is a quilting thread by Coats & Clark, it is thicker, maybe a 40 weight. I just use a needle that fits the thread. The thread is for hand sewing. Try Walmart.

    I agree with Tartan, hand quilting thread and a regular sewing needle. I love making yo-yo's and have a beautiful vest to show for it.
