I have used Kaufman's Kona Cotton, Moda Bella solids, and Michael Miller. I think I like Moda and Michael Miller better than Kona. It seems to me that some Kona's are heavier than others. I used a navy blue in a quilt and it was delightful, but I have some Kona off white on the shelf that is stiff and when I tried to see how it would needle for hand quilting I found it a little on the difficult side. Since I have 18 years of it I'll just wash it numerous times to see if it works better. If not, I'll deal with it. Roc Lon makes a 78 count muslin that is nice. The Roc Lon that Joann's carry is not the 78 count -- I would guess it isn't even 60.

Well, I had Moda Bella bleached white in my shopping cart on-line, and decided to drive to a Hancock's to see what they might have. I compared their Kona to their own version (I forget the name) and then ended up with bleached white muslin... It seems to be as tight a weave, is whiter, and I am just about to wash it and see how it survives/feels, etc.
