I was going to make a lap quilt using the yellow Brick Road pattern. The quilt is for a girl turning 18 and leaving the youth program in our church and moving on to the Adult program. But I just love one of the fat quarters that I was going to use and don't want to cut it up! So I was thinking of using it as the center. Cutting it into a 18 inch square and putting it in the center of the quilt. perhaps on point. But now what? I will have 11 other Fat quarters to work with. perhaps I can find some solids to make it pop. So any ideas what pattern or way that I can do this? I case you are wondering the FQ is in fandango by Kate Spain , pattern 27040.

Fandango is a tough one to cut up. I used a D9P so I wouldn't have to cut my 5" squares. I purchased large prints for the setting triangles and wider border. I did end up using sashing to define the prints.

I would think a Yellow Brick Road would have some larger areas, but you could center an 18" square and work around it. How about 15" with a frame of 1.5 inches to keep it special?

Decisions, decisions.
